~ Classmates Memories ~

Kadeen's passing came in June of 1990, as a result of an auto accident near Colorado Springs. We were only seven miles short of our destination, on a multi-day trip to my sister's wedding. After nearly seven years of marriage, I was devastated by her loss. Surviving the accident, I've been fortunate to enjoy watching our two sons continue to grow (22 mo. & 5 mo. at the time). Many times I have heard her laugh emanating from our oldest son's mouth. In my mind, I can still see the girl I first met with the "funny name" at EPO Elementary. I remember the knee-high socks at Marcus Whitman, the wolf mascot at SK, the big smile, the short  blonde hair, the beautiful bride's maid that I fell in love with that summer's evening in '82 (thanks Joanne &
Rex). I still miss and love you very much...but I'm sure you know that.

Colleen Ugrin was probably the first to pass on the summer right after graduation.  In fact, I still have a letter she wrote me a couple of days before her automobile accident.  It was tragic that she died alone.  I remember one day after school she and Jimi James pulled out of the SK parking lot and Colleen leaned out of the passenger window of Jimi's orange Camaro and gestured to me that they wanted to race.  A few seconds later one of Port Orchard's finest issued me my first and only high school ticket for "following to close" in the amount of $30.  I will always miss her smile and infectious laugh.  ~Ken Hodgson~

Robin Riese and I became close friends when we were both working for the YCC in Asotin County, Washington (Fields Spring State Park--eastern WA) between our sophomore and junior years.  Robin had the most infectious laugh, and such a sweet, genuine personality and generous spirit.  She had a dream of owning a real cowboy ranch one day.  While in the YCC we did everything from clearing trails to building picnic tables together, I can still remember swapping boyfriend stories when we were allowed to sleep outside under the stars one night.  I will always treasure her memory and believe she is among the angels.  ~Sandy Early~

David Scott and I dated for a short time in our sophomore year. He was kind,
sweet, and a gentleman. I was always home on time! He will always have a
special place in my heart. Every time I hear Kashmir I think of you!
Dave, you are truly missed.  ~Shelli (Foster) Booher~

Angie Welling was killed in an accident in E. WA a few years ago according to an email I received from Steph Libby Livengood.  This was hard news for me, I really liked her, she was so down to earth and sweet.  We were all in the Sound of Music together, what a great memory, all these teenage wanna party girls in nun wear!

David Atchley passed away just a few years after our graduation.  He worked all day one day, then came home and decided to go swimming, as he did often since he grew up with Lake Helena right outside his back door.  Unfortunately, Dave drowned that day.  I will always remember that big smile he had, and his ability to make everybody laugh.  I feel very fortunate to have known somebody as wonderful as Dave was.        ~ LeAnn (Connolly) Hill  ~

I would just like to pass on what I know of Greg Ewerts death.  It was very tragic.  He was killed on the job as an electrician, leaving a wife and daughter behind.  Greg was a very sweet person and I do miss seeing him at the bank where I work.              ~Cathy Knapp-Talley ~

I stumbled upon this page and was shocked to see so many familiar names.  I remember living near Angie Welling when we were in elementary school, our families were close friends, we were in Camp Fire Girls together.  We went to different Jr. High Schools, (Cedar Heights/Marcus Whitman) but our sophomore year we "re-connected" at SKHS.  I am so sorry to hear of this loss.    ~Brandie (Engbrecht) Castle ~
